Low-Cost Flights to Spain
Increases in the Number of Budget and Low-Cost Flights to Spain
According to numerous reports on the Internet, it appears that there is set to be an increase in the number of low-cost airlines providing flights to Spain in the near future.
Some studies have shown that the figures for budget travellers flying to Spain on low-cost flights in June this year have increased by some 29% in comparison to the number of travellers for the same period in 2006. It has also been reported that over two million passengers arrived in Spain in June, via a low-cost airline… a figure that represents a staggering 37% of the total number of air trvellers for that period.
The main budget flights to Spain were provided by the low cost-airlines easyjet, Ryan Air and Air Berlin: these three airlines alone provided approximatley 60% of Spain’s air traffic in the month of June.
The most popular destinations for low-cost travellers in the first half of 2007 were unsurprisingly Barcelona (Catalunya), Malaga (Andalusia) and Palma de Mallorca (The Balearic Islands): gateway cities for sandy beaches.
